Dustin Cox is a passionate leader, innovator, and educator with deep roots in our community. As a lifelong Arizonan, Dustin appreciates the beauty of our great state, and benefits from the perspective of a family that boasts five generations of Arizonans. While Dustin grew up in cities like Mesa, Apache Junction, and Payson, it was Tucson that stole his heart and that he now calls home. Dustin received a first rate education from the University of Arizona, and is a proud Wildcat alumnus.

 

Each day, Dustin lives his commitment to the community.

As the Executive Director of Anytown Arizona and Anytown America, non-profits that empower youths and young adults to become leaders in their communities, Dustin trained the next generation of business, non-profit, government, and community leaders to combat racism, bias, bigotry, and violence in all its forms. Whether it was with junior high students, high school students, or young adults in college, Dustin was ensuring that Arizona enjoys a more just future for all.

His role at the head of these major nonprofits also makes Dustin the only candidate who has had to balance large budgets, make payroll, or manage a staff and organization of hundreds. That makes Dustin the most experienced candidate in the field when it comes to what Arizona desperately needs: someone who knows how to balance a budget, and not only get us back on track, but move us forward with a common vision.

Dustin also fought to protect, empower, and educate seniors and at-risk populations – such as non-English speakers and students – in Southern Arizona while with the Attorney General’s office. His focus on preventing identity theft, consumer fraud, and civil rights violations were – and still are – a passion of his. Dustin has shown consistent dedication to the parts of our community that need it the most, and will continue to fight for them at the legislature.

For Dustin’s many volunteer and service activities, he has been recognized on the local, state, and national levels for his dedication to improving the community. He was recognized in 2008 as a recipient of the Hon Kachina Volunteer Award – sometimes referred to as "Arizona’s Nobel Peace Prize" – for a lifetime of volunteer service and improving the health of the Arizona community. Dustin was also recognized in 2009 as one of Tucson’s “Top 40 Under 40,” and was a nominee for the 2010 “Arizona Champions for Children and Families Award.”

As your state representative, Dustin Cox will continue to live his commitment to the community by leading, protecting, and serving Arizonans in the same impassioned way he has throughout his entire life.

Dustin Cox es un líder apasionado, un innovador,  y educador con raíces profundas en nuestra comunidad. Como un Arizonense de toda su vida, Dustin aprecia la belleza de nuestro gran estado y saca provecho de la perspectiva de una familia que tiene cinco generaciones que han vivido en Arizona.  Aunque Dustin creció en las cuidades de Mesa, Apache Junction, y Payson, fue Tucson que le robo el corazón y el lugar que el llama su hogar. Dustin recibió una educación de alto nivel de la Universidad De Arizona y es un antiguo alumno orgulloso.  

Cada día, Dustin dedica su vida a su communidad.

Como el Director Ejecutivo de Anytown Arizona y Anytown América, organizaciones no lucrativas que habilitan jóvenes para que ellos se conviertan en lideres en sus comunidades. Dustin capacita la próxima generación de lideres en las empresas, las organizaciones no lucrativas, el gobierno y la comunidad a luchar en contra del racismo, el prejuicio, la intolerancia, y en todo tipo de violencia.  Sea con estudiantes de secundaria, preparatoria o adultos en la universidad, Dustin se estaba asegurando que Arizona disfrute de un futuro justo para todos.

Dustin también lucho para proteger, habilitar y educar a personas de la tercera edad y populaciones en riesgo – como personas que no hablan Ingles y estudiantes – en el sur de Arizona cuando estaba trabajando con la oficina del Procurador General.  Su enfoque fue en la prevención del robo de identidad, del fraude de consumo, y las violaciones de derechos civiles eran – y todavía son – una pasión de el. Dustin ha mostrado una dedicación invariable a las comunidades mas necesitadas y continuara luchando por ellas en la asamblea legislativa.

Por las actividades voluntarias y de servicio en las que Dustin se ha involucrado, ha sido reconocido. Lo han reconocido a un nivel local, estatal y nacionalmente por su dedicación a mejorar la comunidad. En el 2008 fue recipiente del premio Hon Kochina – a este premio se le refiere como el “Premio Nobel de Arizona” – por el servicio voluntario y por mejorar la salud de la comunidad en Arizona durante toda su vida. Dustin también fue reconocido en el 2009 como uno de los “Top 40 Under 40” en Tucson (un premio a los cuarenta mejores lideres jóvenes) y fue un candidato para el  “Premio de Campeones por Niños y Familias” en el 2010.

Como su representante estatal, Dustin Cox continuara dedicándose a su comunidad guiando, protegiendo y ayudando a la gente de Arizona con la misma pasión que lo ha hecho toda su vida.
